Good chain, bad chain: The Good

Some franchises can be surprisingly helpful for consumers, particularly those who travel and want a slice of something familiar.

But is not food, or beds, or banks that make the grade - the local variants of those things are often better. It is more obscure products that help weary wonderers maintain some semblance of routine.

Ok, more of a protocol, but an indispensible tool to world connectivity nonetheless.

Without it many meetings would comprise only nods, smiles and grunts.
