Associations of an apothecary

Some popular food and drink brands leverage pharmaceutical heritage, or simply remedial associations.

Consumers find it satisfyingly easy to justify consumption; after all it’s 'good for me'.

Alcohol with a medicinal twist:

Jägermeister - a German 'digestif' made with 56 herbs; originally marketed as a therapeutic concoction.

Absolut Vodka - iconic bottle inspired by classic Swedish medicine vessels.

Glenrothes Speyside Scotch - an obvious pharmacy twist to its packaging.

Energy drinks which double for sick-at-home-in-bed sustenance.

Lucozade - owned by health care business GlaxoSmithKline

Apotekarnes Julmust - a Swedish Christmas-time nonalcoholic alternative to beer with a catchy chemist brand name

Chewable bits

Läkerol - a brand of throat lozenges and candy established in 1909, with a name derived from 'läker', Swedish for 'heal', and a very cute tagline: 'Makes people talk'
