BRAND REVOLT

Porsche City = £25

Ken (Livingstone, the Mayor of London) is making things difficult for City boys with an appetite for big Porsches.

There are plans for the London congestion charge to be dramatically increased, to £25 per day, for cars that emit more than 225 g/km of CO2. Porsche's €65k+ Cayenne 4x4 is one such car.

Now Porsche is getting angry. As predicted in a previous entry - Porsche + VW = -CO2 - Porsche is getting hit by its less-than-environmentally-in-vogue engine sizes.

Porsche is now mounting a legal challenge against the proposed congestion fee. Porsche claims 'successful' people will think twice about basing themselves in the UK capital should such proposed fee increases go ahead.

Porsche might consider a new angle. Afterall, Porsche owners want to see themselves as caring/philanthropic/giving in the right situation.

Porsche needs to offer fast cars (911s) to ensure the brand is true to its origins. But it should shift all its big cars (Cayenne 4x4s) to more 'eco' solutions (hybrid, bio, etc) and they need to just get on with the VW take over so they can offset/balance emissions across the entire 'group'.
